I was cleaning the house, and Bella started FREAKING out. She was looking out the screen door, crying and looking at something on the patio.
I couldn’t see anything, so I went around to the front door, opened it and saw a HUGE snake in the doorway.
Instinct took over. I slammed the door and ran.
I grabbed my camera, and ran to the man-den where Bella was keeping eye on the snake.

Carefully, I made my way outside to get a better view (with zoom lens and shovel in hand):

I do not like snakes, or spiders. Personally, it’s me or them. And I prefer me. So the shovel was deployed.

This snake was BIG. Over 2 feet long. For comparison:

It still slithered around for over 15 minutes. I scooped it up with the shovel, and threw it into the grass across the street (where there’s a big parkland/grass strip between the roads).
Research shows that it was a Speckled Kingsnake. They can get up to 3-4 ft long. Sure, it was a non-venomous constrictor, but I didn’t want to be digging up weeds and come across it.
snake murderer!
