We went to the open-house of the renovated Fayetteville Animal Shelter on Saturday. It looks great !
We knew we were in trouble when we came across this little guy:
He’s about 7-8 months old, and we’re thinking he’s an Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog.
Here’s the pup with Hoover:
He’s such a sweet little guy. His butt looks like a deer’s butt with that cute little tail, and he prances around like a baby deer.
We’re currently fostering him until we decide if he’s compatible with Hoover.
Sadly, Hoover pounced him Sunday morning. I broke the two of them apart, and they immediately started playing around together. Then the wound appeared on his head, and a 2 inch gash opened up (not bleeding), but exposing the muscle and skull.
5 hours and $400 dollars later he was patched up at the Emergency Vet.
So, we’re going to have to keep a very close eye on the two of them, and not allow any unsupervised play or interaction.
Yesterday, Hoover let him eat some of his food, before he finished eating. That’s a big deal. But later smacked him again. sigh.
Our trainer is coming Thursday to evaluate the situation, and we’re going to have to work hard at training them if we decide to keep him.
