With 1,829 adoptions to date this year, the Fayetteville Animal Shelter has hit a record high in adoptions.  To celebrate the shelter will be holding an adopt-A-Thon on Friday, November 14th and Saturday, November 15th.  The shelter will be open extended hours until 8p.m. on both days.  The shelter will also have cats and dogs available for adoption at the Fayetteville PetSmart location on Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Adopters will receive starter kits for their adopted pets including Hill’s Science Diet food, shampoo, stain remover, training DVD, and coupons for pet supplies.

“We’re really happy about the great homes our pets have found this year,” said Jill Hatfield, Animal Services Superintendent.  “This time of year is always very busy so we wanted to stay open later to give people more time to make the right match.  Adopting a new pet is a big decision that the whole family needs to be involved in,” she added.

Currently the shelter has several litters of puppies and kittens along with adult dogs and cats looking for new homes.  Many of the dogs available are purebred and small breed dogs.

The $60 adoption fee includes the spay/neuter, microchip, rabies vaccination, booster shot, flea & tick prevention, dewormer, city license for the first year, and heartworm test for dogs, feline leukemia test for cats.
