i’m reading an autobiography by Abbie Hoffman. he wrote “Kids need to be educated to disrespect authority. Otherwise, democracy is a farce.”

Reading that made me put the book down. I picked it up, and re-read it. Then wrote it down.

Thinking on that… if it wasn’t for people questioning and disrespecting authority, there would have been no declaration of independence, civil rights or women’s rights movements, plus anything else in history that brought about change.

Questioning authority and the government and leaders in charge should be considered not just a right, but your DUTY, if and when the laws and actions of those in power do anything to take away those liberties.

a VERY interesting article that devles into the inner mind of Stanley Kubrick….

Citizen Kubrick.

Stanley Kubrick’s films were landmark events – majestic, memorable and richly researched. 1811 Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue

This is great…. Profanities and vulgar language (or what was defined as such) from 1811.

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) – Harry Potter fans, relax. The Vatican says the kid is all right.

The question of whether J.K. Rowling’s books and the films on the boy wizard have a positive influence came up at a news conference on Monday where the Vatican presented a document on “New Age” spirituality, which contain elements of the occult.

“I don’t think that any of us grew up without the imaginary world of fairies, magicians, angels and witches,” said Father Peter Fleetwood, a Vatican official who worked on the document.

“They are not bad or a banner for anti-Christian ideology. They help children understand the difference between good and evil,” he said in response to a reporter’s question.

The fifth book in the series, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” became an instant best-seller less than 24 hours after the June publication date was announced by the publishers.
