For Immediate Release – “Dog’s Night Out,” a progressive feast for canines will take place Saturday, April 4th, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Dog Party USA on Highway 112 in Springdale.  This will be a fundraiser for the Humane Society of the Ozarks, a non-profit organization based in Washington County and an active chapter of the Humane Society of the United States.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for people to do something fun and different with their doggie companions.  The dogs will be treated to a 3-course meal consisting of a variety of gourmet dog foods, some of them from vendors around the country and some of them homemade.  The humans will also be treated to dinner and drinks,” said Chaddie Kumpe Platt, board member of the Humane Society and owner of Dog Party USA.  The first 50 groups to arrive will also receive goody bags!

“This event has been great fun and a good fundraiser for the Humane Society of the Ozarks in the past,” said Christian Gunn, HSO Board President.  “We hope even more people and pooches will come out for this year’s event.”  “Dog’s Night Out is a unique event, and a great prelude to our annual Dogwood Walk, which will be held on May 2nd this year.  Between these two events and Springfest, your dog can have a very active social calendar this spring,” said Carmen Nelson, Executive Director of the Humane Society of the Ozarks.

The tickets will be $25 for two people and one dog, and $10 for each additional dog or human.  All proceeds will go to the Humane Society of the Ozarks to help pay for emergency outreach for people with pets who can’t afford food or healthcare, cruelty rescue projects such as those conducted in Madison County, Newton County, as well as in Washington & Benton Counties in 2008.  HSO does a variety of activities in the area to promote the well-being of animals.

Having recently signed with Jagjaguwar, Dinosaur Jr plans to release a new album this summer. The band will be setting out in April to road test new material in cozier settings than you might expect. Check out the Tour Page for details. For the fortunate fans who score tickets to these select shows, they will also receive a limited edition, tour-only 7″ or a digital download code with the purchase of a ticket. The songs on this release were recorded live during a Pitchfork.tv feature at J Mascis’ Bisquiteen Studios. The A-Side is a new track entitled “I Don’t Want To Go There” and is slated to appear on the forthcoming full length, while the B-Side is a revisited classic “Tarpit” from You’re Living All Over Me.

For $5, you can get a meal of fried chicken, collard greens, beans, coleslaw, cornbread, dessert, and a drink.  All proceeds go to the Church, and their efforts to renovate the Church (just check out that new steeple!).

We’ve been attending this annual event for several years.  When it comes time for my birthday (Feb 25th), I know it’s time for lunch at St. James.

It’s served in the basement of the Church.   You can sit down at tables and eat with others from the community, or get it to go.  We usually eat there because it’s a lot of fun meeting and talking to people.

This year, they had FRIED CATFISH as a substitute for the chicken.  We got the fish, and it was GREAT.   For dessert, we snagged Sweet Potato Pie.

For $5, it’s the best meal deal in town.  They really should charge more!  We always give an extra donation.

I can’t wait until next year!

The Music Tapes (ex-Neutral Milk Hotel and Olivia Tremor Control members) will be playing at Ameroplace (500 N. Vandeventer) TOMORROW NIGHT! i know it is short notice, but please come support them. they will be caroling and hanging out for the evening, and would love to see some shining, singing faces. we will be cooking, and hanging out before hand, so join us then too!

Jill and I both had the Pho.  It was really good.  Tried it with the flank, brisket, and meatball.

I added alot more fish sauce, because that’s how I roll.  (Oh yeah.  They actually have bottles of Golden Boy Fish Sauce on the table.  Bonus points right there)

We also tried the fresh spring rolls, and the fresh fried egg rolls.  Those were great.  The peanut sauce actually tasted like it was made with peanuts or peanut butter.

A co-worker ate lunch their as well today.  In order to not embarrass her, we’ll call her “Sarah”.

Her review of the Pho:  “it was too soupy”.   Which I think is a good thing, in regard to noodle soup.
