hung out with Jaime (jtotheme) and her friend Amy last night… Goldie’s, Blue Parrot, and Uno at my place.
I went to sleep, and woke up every few hours…finally got out of bed around noon.
Alena (petalena) and her hubby Robbie (cloudedson) swung by on their way back from Amanda’s (burgeygirl) place around 2pm, and we went to get lunch at ROTC. Bumped into my bossman Eric & his family there, paid and went out to fine petalena’s car had a flat tire ! Oh No !
Robbie and I entered Manly Mode, and got the donut and jack out of the trunk (removing a folding chair, luggage, a HAT BOX, and other things), and removed the tire using our automotive skillz. We then ventured out to Sears to get the tire fixed, but they were closing, so went to Walmart. After waiting for like an hour and a half, we were informed that the sides were blown out, and couldn’t be fixed, and she needed a new tire. It’s a new car, she’s had it like 2 months, and the tires are still under warranty. So, they had to buy a new tire, and then take the old tire tomorrow to the Hyundai Joint in Little Rock for reimbursement.
Finally, we got out of Walmart at 6:40, and they dropped me off at my apartment before having to head back to Little Rock.
What an exciting day !
It was nice seeing the two of them… too bad Amanda couldn’t make it down to visit, but she’s always too busy for the likes of me.
Elliott Smith dies, aged 34
US singer-songwriter Elliott Smith has died, according to reports. Websites and various radio stations are reporting that the singer passed away yesterday (October 21) at the age of 34. The official cause of death is currently unclear.
Born in 1969 in Nebraska, Smith started his music career as a member of Portland, Oregon band, Heatmiser, in the early 90s. He earned plaudits for his 1994 debut solo release Roman Candle, with critics comparing his stripped down, melancholic melodies to the likes of Nick Drake and Neil Young.
His 1997 album, Either/Or, brought him wider acclaim, though his greatest mainstream success followed the same year’s Oscar nomination for the song Miss Misery from his score for Gus Van Sant’s Good Will Hunting. His music has since featured regularly on other movie soundtracks, including Wes Anderson’s New York disfunctional family drama, The Royal Tenenbaums.
Amazon.com hailed his second self-titled album “one of the most understated and incredible albums to emerge from the indie-rock scene in the 1990s.”
He released five albums during his brief career, and was apparently working on a new album, nominally titled From a Basement on the Hill.
i forgot to post this over here…

tommy was a good kid… got into alot of trouble, cleaned himself up, turned his life around, and was starting to get back on track.
i’ve had a lot of love and respect for him, and this news has really hit me in a way that words can’t express.
r.i.p. tommy smith – you’re in my thoughts, along with all of us who knew and cared for him
my love and thoughts go out to his friends, familly, and everyone else that cared about him…

sir mix-a-lot
So, my friend Adam works the front desk at the Radison Hotel in downtown Fayetteville.
Sir Mix-A-Lot was in town this weekend (playing a show at the Pike House…I’m sure a career high), and stayed at the Radison.
The following conversation took place:
Sir Mix-A-Lot: Is there any place around here I can get some food?
Adam: Well, the kitchen is closed, but I could fix you something. What would you like ?
Mix: [started rattling off some things]
Adam: Well, those things would require cooking, which means that I’d have to turn on the stove, and it takes 45 minutes to preheat. Would you like something cold? I can make you a sandwich, or some fruit, or some other things that we have in the fridge.
Mix: Well, I don’t eat bread or fruit. I’m on the Atkins diet.
Adam: [Pauses, then says] Well, I guess you can’t have any buttermilk biscuits either.
{for those of you not in the know, “Buttermilk Biscuits” was an early single from the Swass album}
Mix: [Smirk]
So, Adam goes and prints off a picture from sirmixalot.info, and gets it autographed.
The autograph says: “To the host with the toast”
drama drama drama
So, it all started the weekend before last.
We’re all hanging out at my friend Justin & Kristie’s place…having a suprise birthday party for our friend Jacqueline….Her boyfriend Marc put it together.
People were invited…some people were not invited, and yet they showed up anyway.
In the past, Joi has talked about how much she hated Jacqueline. How much she loved Marc’s previous girlfriend, and thought she was much better than Jacqueline.
Of course, to Jacq’s face, Joi talks about how great she is.
So, we’re all hanging out, and Jacqueline comes into the kitchen to find Joi all over Marc, with Marc not welcoming these advances. Jacqueline runs off as Joi flashes her a ‘what’s your fucking problem’ look, and another friend of ours goes after Jacqueline
At this point, I didnt know what was going on…all that I know is that something upset Jacqueline. I go out with Bethany and Marc in search of Jacqueline, to try and make sense of things. Bethany & I talk privately with Jacqueline, and smooth things out…telling her that nothing is going on between Joi & Marc, and more importantly, trying to get her to not confront Joi face-to-face, or doing anything to harm Joi or her property.
We head back to Justin’s place, now that Jacqueline was calmed down. I don’t let her borrow my phone because I knew she was going to try and call Joi.
I tell her to just let it rest, and just let it go.
We get back, Joi is gone, and Jacqueline asks Mike if she could borrow his phone. He lets her, not knowing who she is calling. Jacqueline calls Joi. We’re not sure what is said between them, but Joi calls Mike a little while later upset and crying and pissed that he allowed Jacq to call her. Which, he of course had no knowledge about.
It’s also mentioned how Joi was threatening to kill other people in the room – telling them in person that she could kill them in their sleep. Nice.
A couple of days later, Justin, Mike, and I get voicemail from Joi… we’re apparently the cause of all her problems, and the reason that her sanity is slipping.
However, her manic depression, suicide attempts, bipolar disorder, alcoholism, and refusal of treatment apparently has nothing to do with it.
As it stands now, apparently the three of us are the Unholy Trinity in her life. We are the root cause of all the drama. I guess Justin, for not inviting her to his house in the first place, and then she showed up. Mike for allowing Jacqueline to use his phone without his knowledge. And myself for preventing Jacqueline from doing anything bad to Joi. Now, I’m not sure who’s to blame for Joi being all over Marc in the first place, but I’m sure she’ll come up with someone.
I feel sorry for Joi. She brings alot of things onto herself. She recently got beaten up by some guy from her past, whom she refuses to tell anyone about. I’m thinking it’s more obvious that she beat herself up…causing bruises all over her body. She has tried to cut herself, and kill herself on several occasions.
She only comes around when she wants to complain about how terrible her life is, however she won’t follow anyone’s advice…. randomly fucking people, or fucking people whom she publicly talks bad about (talking about how terrible Sean is…how horrible he is, while no one else sees this side of him).
There’s a lot of people in her life who’s tried to help her, but she doesnt want help. Just pity. She works at a children’s store in the mall, and I’m really scared about her freaking out on kids, and trying to do something to harm someone there.
I used to care…and I guess I still do. But when she makes up her own mind about the situation, and how we reacted after she left (and falsely too), it makes me realize that it’s all in her mind, where it’s always been. The part of her that I cared about died along time ago. Or maybe it never existed in the first place.
