big issues over the last couple of days on my webserver. it kept crashing… too many processes.

it came down to a combination of issues with spamassassin and apache.

Instead of having spamassassin called via procmail whenever emails came in, i turned on the spamd daemon so that will improve performance. I also have automatic virus scanning done via clamav and clamassassin. So now, every account on my webserver has spam and virus protection enabled.

after that, i started battling apache. it was kicking up way too many processes, and running the load average up to around 30. I finally figured out the proper combination of prefork, worker, and child settings to get everything to function smoothly, efficiently, and not overload the system.

now things seem to work.

just a test of the deepest sender extension for firefox.

So, how long have you been a tech-support manwhore?
A few months. A friend was having trouble connecting to the Internet, this really attractive girl, and the idea just popped into my head: “Wow, it would be really nice if I could get sex for this.” I placed an ad on Craigslist that read, “WILL FIX COMPUTERS FOR SEXUAL FAVORS,” and I’ve had an overwhelming number of responses.

So, this scam actually works?
Yeah. Most of the calls I get are for spyware removal and viruses. One girl didn’t even wait for me to finish the virus scan—she just grabbed me and gave me a blow job.

Do you have a set, um, pay scale?
No, I leave it up to their discretion. One girl didn’t want to have intercourse, so she offered me a massage and then finished me off with a hand job. It’s basically all about the time I spend: If I’m working for one or two hours, I’d like a blow job. An orgasm for every two hours of service is pretty fair. If it’s something simple that I can fix in 15 minutes, I’d like to get a foot massage.

Do you ask to see photos before you make your house call? What if you walk in and the customer’s just horrendous? I’m pretty open-minded. I’m a stickler for hygiene, but I don’t discriminate.

This is sort of awkward, but my hard drive keeps crashing and…
No guys! I mean, I’ll help you out, but for money. If you know any ladies who need their computers fixed, though, I’m ready, willing and able.

I just created a brand new category in my blog… “Spam”. And to start this off….

Subject: A Moment

Hello.

My name is Jason Adams. You probably don’t know me and yet still it is an amazing thing that of all the people in the world our paths crossed electronically for a moment.

I’m not a salesman. I don’t want your money. I don’t even want you to forward this email. This is completely between me and you. A private moment and I’m not there so actually it’s just you by yourself.

The whole point of my email is to ask you to take a moment to invite Jesus Christ into your heart. Make Him the Lord of your life. Let Him save you. Please. Before it’s too late.

You’ve seen how much the whole world is decaying. How much longer do you think the world will bear our injustice?

I didn’t ask you to go to church or to say a silent prayer. Use your voice and call out to God. He knows you. He knows you’ve done things He said not to do. He sent His Son to pay your price and mine. Will you leave His gift laying unopened? It’s easy you know…so very easy…(outloud… even a whisper will do in case you got a co-worker nearby)

God, forgive me for my sins. You and I know I’ve done what you’ve said not to do. Please forgive me. I realize that You allowed Jesus to go through my punishment to pay my price. I believe in Jesus and ask Him to become my Lord and Saviour. Help me to live a new life looking to Jesus to save me from the coming judgement. Thank You. In Jesus’ name.

You may already have made this commitment. You may have allowed things to come into your life that God disapproves of. Take care of those things. Recommit your life to following after Jesus Christ. It’s not too late. He loves you so very much.

Jason

Microsoft’s Gates faces off with Napoleon Dynamite
Tuesday September 13 10:12 PM ET

Pick your favorite geek: Napoleon Dynamite or Bill Gates?

Seeking to capitalize on the popularity of the 2004 cult movie “Napoleon Dynamite,” Microsoft Corp. on Tuesday screened a video spoof for software developers in which the film’s celebrated anti-hero reports to work as a programer for the world’s largest software maker.

In a face-off between the two nerd icons, Jon Heder, the actor who plays Napoleon Dynamite, beats Gates in a slapping match to become the head of the software giant.

Gates is shown recruiting Heder’s fictional character, after which they are seen together in ill-fitting brown suits on Microsoft’s campus in Redmond, Washington.

In the last scene of the video spoof, Gates is seen scurrying into the office of his boss, Napoleon Dynamite.

Microsoft often uses major events to poke fun at its competitive business culture and and its hands-on chairman, Gates, the company’s largest individual shareholder and the world’s richest man with an estimated net worth of more than $48 billion.

Microsoft showed developers preliminary versions of its upgrades of its flagship Windows and Office programs to software developers at this weeks’ conference in Los Angeles.

Microsoft RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer for Windows XP

another great powertoy from microsoft ! I use this one to view the RAW images that I take with my Canon G6.

RAW image capture is preferred by many serious-minded photographers to preserve all the subtle color and detail possible from digital cameras. However, until now it has been impossible to view thumbnails and previews for RAW images in Windows without use of special software.

The Microsoft RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer enhances the Windows XP photos experience by providing thumbnails, previews, printing, and metadata display for RAW images from most Canon and Nikon digital cameras. This tool enables advanced digital photographers to organize and work with RAW files directly in Windows Explorer in much the same way as with JPEG images. No more “guessing” which image is which!

This release of the RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer supports most models of Canon and Nikon cameras capable of RAW capture, including the latest professional models such as the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II and Nikon D2x. A complete list of supported cameras is provided in the readme file.
