from www.uark.edu:

The University of Arkansas is closed today. Faculty and staff should not report to work and students should not report to class. Razorback Transit has suspended operations for the day.

I actually wasn’t expecting that yesterday.

Of course, the first page that I checked… the official UA Weather Notice Page (http://advancement.uark.edu/info/weather.html) hasn’t been updated since Sunday, February 19, 2006 7:35 PM.

Even though it’s “updated frequently” according to the UA’s inclement weather policy (http://vcfa.uark.edu/Documents/FayPol_Admin_2100.pdf).

No, not White Anglo Saxon Protestants (but I’m sure there are ALOT affiliated with the Sam Walton College of Business.)

They have a webcam showing the construction at http://waltoncollege.uark.edu/webcam/default.asp?show=CAE

There’s a wasp sitting on the lens !

As seen on the freshly-painted metal boxes behind Gibson Hall, on the University of Arkansas campus.

They were painted on September 14th, tagged the weekend of September 23rd.

tagged by “Sake” which is either a delicious Japanese Rice Wine, or Students Acquiring Knowledge Through Enterprise (http://www.sake.org/), or some tagger’s name.

After looking at the UA Seal on the window in the Union Servery, and having some conversations, I’d like to point out a couple of things.

The usage guidelines for the University of Arkansas Seal can be found at http://www.uark.edu/rd_vcad/urel/standards/196.htm.

The example image that they supply is:

If you notice, the leaf on the right side is incomplete, as can be seen in this zoomed (yet pixelated) image:

Vectorized in Adobe Illustrator, for clarity:

However, the version in the Arkansas Union is a bit different, AND COMPLETE !

Maybe University Relations has an incomplete version of the logo on their website, to thwart ne’er-do-wells, and so that they can identity “unofficial” uses of the seal.  Or maybe not.

However, I’m thinking that the Squirrel in the Old Main painting is eyeing those nuts.

There’s a mural painted in the ARKU Servery of Old Main.

It’s fancy.  The door to Old Main is facing the same direction as if we stood in front of the real one.  I bet they planned it that way.

The best thing about the mural though is the squirrel.

I liked this shot of the UA seal, freshly applied to the southern windows in the student union servery.

But the whole thing would look ALOT better if they actually lined up the decals better:
