Currently we have some reserved spaces available in the Garland Avenue Parking Facility. The cost for the year is $510.30. If you have already purchased your permit for the new year, that amount will be deducted.
The reserved G areas are located on levels 1 and 2 of the garage, each has a small red sign that says reserved 7 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. The garage is open parking on the weekends but is reserved on all home football game Saturdays by the Razorback Foundation.

Yay. I now have a G (parking) spot in the Garland Avenue Parking Facility !

The Yellow Faculty/Staff lots are few and far between (and with the KUAF lot disappearing within a couple of years, they’ll be even less). Now I can park across the street from my office. Thank goodness for payroll deduction !

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., December 17, comp.uark.edu will be UNAVAILABLE for approximately 24-hours for maintenance and upgrades.

This maintenance requires all users to be logged out of comp.uark.edu. During this time, users will be unable to access their My Documents folders, their comp.uark.edu shell, as well as other Samba shares (which includes My Documents). WebCT will also be UNAVAILABLE during this time.

On Saturday, December 18, beginning at 9 a.m., the central mail server, mail.uark.edu, will also be UNAVAILABLE for approximately three hours In addition to WebMail (webmail.uark.edu) and XpressMail (mail.uark.edu), all mail access for users using the host mail.uark.edu will be unavailable, including those using desktop clients such as Eudora, Outlook, and Pine. Users will be unable to check e-mail during this time.

Downtimes of these systems will NOT affect other services, such as ISIS, the University’s web server, or Data Warehouse.

i just had a snapshot extract from ISIS ran to generate a listing of 1053 (spring 2005) webct courses.
This sucker turned out to be several times the size of the 1049 (fall 2004) extracts.

When I ran them through the api to import them into webct (and create the course shells), it started to create a course shell for EVERY SPRING CLASS. Realizing this, I cancelled it after 1000 courses were created (out of the 6000 in the SOC [schedule of classes]).

Now I have to make backups of the 20 or so courses I’ve already manually created, and then delete 1000 or so new courses that shouldn’t exist in the first place.

Ooops. Now we need to figure out HOW these courses got flagged in the first place (i’ve had issues this semester involving courses that mysteriously got automatically flagged in ISIS), and how to unflag all of these naughty courses.

i sent out an email friday saying that Spring 2005 courses are beginning in less than two months, and that people should start requesting WebCT course shells now if they plan on using it.

I came in this morning to find over 60 emails regarding this. I know what I’ll be doing all day long – validating course numbers, and propogating my spreadsheet…. but at least I’ve got alot of early responders, instead of instructors waiting until the last minute (or the first day of class)

workshop from awhile back….

my notes reference an incident:

(A) talking…. on and on….
(B) was removing the leftover paper spines from his spiral notebook. :)

I remember being jealous that he actually HAD something to entertain himself with, and I didn’t.

I won’t mention which faculty were involved… hehe

i never got my updated parking sticker in the mail, so I called Shauna @ the parking & transit desk first thing this morning…. she rummaged through the stack of permits, found mine, and had it waiting for me at the front desk when I arrived shortly after 8am.

Huge queue had formed, but I just cut through it, ran up to the side of the desk, and was handed the golden ticket with a smile ! What a great way to start a Monday !

Itinerary for today: 10am meeting discussing ISIS data extract, and importing that into WebCT (synchronicity baby), lunch with jill around noon, before she attends the adobe acrobat 1 workshop (taught in our classroom). Still dealing with vendors regarding our video conferencing server, and trying to get things setup for the upcoming Fall semester…. it’s starting to get busy !

I found out I lost before I found out I was nominated. I opened the envelope thinking it was my new UA hangtag. That would’ve been more exciting !

Dear Chris,

On behalf of Staff Senate, I would like to congradulate you on your recent nomination for Employee of the Quarter award at the University of Arkansas. You were among several well deserving nominees and the committee had a very difficult decision process. I regret to inform you that you were not selected for this recognition. However, keep up the good work and know that people are taking notice of you as an exceptional staff member here at the University.

Sincerely,
Kenley Haley
Chair, Staff Senate

i had a faculty member in here earlier, we were discussing some things… and the word “feminist” was brought up in conversation, and how in some of the more conservative circles in NWA, the “f” word (as she proceeded to refer to it as) was taboo, and considered too political.

haha feminist = the “f” word.
