Birthday Flashback

So Sunday was my birthday, and it was decided to have a deck party at Dede‘s house.

Big thanks to her and Alex, from Tienda el Progresso, who supplied the food for the event.

Alex made me a special batch of Chicken Pozole, and a large peach/pineapple Tres Leches Cake. I also scored 32 oz of Salsa Verde and Salsa Rojo from there.

I made Queso, Bean dip, and about 13 gallons of Sangria.

A pinata was pummeled, and Marc Laney, Merl, and Dirty Allie laid down some tracks.

Thanks to everyone who showed up and celebrated with me ! Jill took lots of photos, which I still haven’t looked through !

recently upgraded wordpress to version 2… it’s pretty damned cool… lots of neat new features that i have yet to check out…. hopefully all my crosslinking will continue to work.

just upgraded my virtual server to be a dedicated server. now i have 100 gigs free on the webserver. hosting lots of different sites now.

I just updated the gallery software running on zenandjuice.com (URL: http://zenandjuice.com/gallery/).

If anyone had user galleries there previously, everything should be transferred over and updated to the new format. Let me know if there’s any problems.

server sluggishness / rewrites

i’ve been noticing a major amount of sluggishness on the domains that I host on my webserver recently.

finally tracked down some of the problems – linking to images on my site from places all over the internet. apparently people loooooove to put them in their sigs on forums and such.

so i starting playing with the apache mod_rewrite command and only allow referers (apache misspelling) from zenandjuice.com and livejournal.com since that’s where I intend my blog images to be seen.

so far, I haven’t implemented it site-wide (just in specific image folders), but I’m keeping a real-time watch on my log files to see how much stuff is stolen from elsewhere on my site.
