September 1 993 Fisheads, Jellyfriends... August was a month of welcome relaxation for Jellyfish who have just compleled 4 months of touring...Having just 2 days to recover from a Iengthy European tour the Jellyboys embarked on an 8 week sojourn across the U.S. Tim equipped with a beeper so he could be contacted when his very pregnant wife went into Inbor. The air conditioner on the tour bus breaking down in FIorida during a record-brenking heat wave and Joey MoIIand of Badfinger joining the band on slage in Minneapolis for their rendition of "No Matter What " (and Free 's "LittIe Bit of Love ") were two of the more memorable momenls of the tour. Many hours on the bus were also spent watching video tapes sent in by Jellyfish Anny members to the Make Jellyfish Laugh contest. Both band and crew say Thank You! for making the trip a little more enjoyable. Tim's beeper went off as he was walking off stage in Milwaukee and he tells a frustrated tale of being dropped off in Chicago at 3:30 A.M to cancel a flight home to Atlanta where he arrived at 9:30 on July 1st missing the birth of his son, Kieran Christopher by 45 minutes. Tim describes some of the less dramatic highlights of the tour as bowling in Omaha Nebraska an intoxicated John Stamos backstage in New York meeting Harry Nilsson at the L.A. show & hanging out with Antenna, the opening bnnd on the tour. Eric spent most of the tour "learning to hate pizza" and kept himself sane by going on a truck driver parapernalia coIlecting frenzy. Among his favorite items in his collection is an evergrowing assortment of truck driver comedian albums. Since returning from the tour Roger has moved to Ojai California ("home of the Bionic Woman and the best burritos in the world") his humble home decorated in large part with black light posters he collected from various stops around the country. Both he and Andy have been keeping busy during their break working on such projects as singing on Katey Sagall's debut album. "She wriIes very serious heartfelt songs," says Roger "kind of a switch from her role on Married With Children." They also helped Black Crowe pal Chris Robinson on some demos in Los Angeles. The band left for Japan on September 6th where they were greeted at the Tokyo airport by a few Japanese fishheads who gave Andy his first homemade Andy doll. Then it's on to Australia and then back to the States for a 3-week tour as opening band for Tears For Fears beginning October 3rd. A schedule for all these dates is included with this update. Everpending cute fluffy things The Jellyfish Army.
