Leading the Bammie balloting this year is Chris Isaak & Silvertone with six nominations, followed by Primus with five. Other multiple category nominees include Broun Fellinis with four; En Vogue, 4 Non Blondes, Tony Toni Tone, Robert Cray and Counting Crows have three each. Every year in September BAM solicits nominations for the Bay Area Music Awards from "100 Bay Area music industry members," according to BAM editor in chief Dennis Erokan. All nominees must be active Bay Area-based musicians, meaning that to be considered for an award the band or performer must have had a recording issued during the period from Nov. 1, 1992 through Oct. 31, 1993. Bammie voting is by mail using ballots printed in the free biweekly BAM magazine, beginning with this week's (Dec. 3) issue and running through Jan. 28, five issues in all. Erokan insists that ballots and balloting are monitored to prevent multiple voting by individuals or fan clubs. For tickets to the Bammies 17 musical show and awards ceremonies, at $ 100, $ 60 and $ 30, call (510) 762-BASS or listed BASS numbers in the 408, 916, 707 or 209 area codes.
