thanksgiving 2004 was really great ! There was alot of stress at first getting everything “just right”, but when it all came together, it was wonderful. In attendance: Mom, Jill, Judy (Jill’s Mom), and I.
On Wednesday, Judy and I chopped and prepped the vegetables for the dinner, and Thursday morning, I did the majority of the cooking. I totally sympathize with what my grandmother and mother went through all those years trying to coordinate and prepare a large meal.
This was the first time I had ever cooked a turkey, in addition to preparing the entire Thanksgiving meal.
The menu:
appetizer - spinach & artichoke dip with veggies (raw fennel, radishes, celery, red bell peppers, green beans, and turnips)
soup - kale & garlic soup with bacon and beans
meal - roast turkey (brined), fresh cranberry sauce, slow cooked broccoli with garlic & olive oil, kabocha squash, toasty bread (for judy & mom), peppermint tea, wine
desert - earl grey chocolate pots de creme, famous wafers (for judy & mom), earl greyer tea
beverages - two bottles of virgina wine (reisling and summerset), peppermint tea, earl greyer tea
