Lady in the Water (2006)
Written/Directed by M. Night Shyamalan

Apartment building superintendent Cleveland Heep (Giamatti) rescues what he thinks is a young woman from the pool he maintains. When he discovers that she is actually a character from a bedtime story who is trying to make the journey back to her home, he works with his tenants to protect his new friend from the creatures that are determined to keep her in our world.
I discovered along time ago that you either love M. Night Shyamalan or you loathe him. Most people think Sixth Sense was his best work, but I loved Unbreakable, Signs, and even The Village. Lady in the Water didn’t have the same twist ending as his other films - it had little twists throughout the film.
Overall, it’s a fantasy. A bedtime story. And I thought the movie was really well done.
Paul Giamatti is such an underrated actor. He’s always great in the roles he gets, and I’m glad he’s starting to get LEAD roles.
Bryce Dallas Howard (Ron Howard’s daughter) was good in her role.
I recommend seeing this film, even if you hate M. Night.
