Dell.com now has a chat support feature.
Goto http://www.dell.com/chat/ and enter your Service Tag #. You enter into a live chat session with a technician, get everything worked out, and they send you a confirmation email AND a log of the chat session via email.
That’s freaking sweet. and efficient.
Update (2007/02/03): So, all of a sudden I’ve been getting comments from people who think I’m affiliated with Dell. I’m not. I’m just an end user.

MY NAME IS DAN.WESTFIELD AND I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE LETTERS POPPING OF THE KEYBOARD. I HAVE TRIED CALLING DELL SUPPORT A COUPLE TIMES TO REPORT MY PROBLEM, BUT I DO NOT LIKE BEING ON HOLD FOR HOURS ,OR BEING TRANSFERED FROM DEPARTMENT TO DEPARTMENT,OR DISCONNECTED.

Internet Explorer created problems for me. There was also a great delay in connecting to the internet or not at all. Often time there was a error message, “unable to connect, please try later”. There was always a great delay in down loading. I called Verizon because I use their DSL. After an extensive search they suggested that I use Mozilla Firefox. If Dell could tell me why I experience such problems, I would be willing to switch back to Internet Explorer. I use Windows XP, home computer.
