Nevermind

A few minutes ago, I heard a scream of “Oh my god !  Nirvana is classic rock”, coming from the other room, when Jill turned on the radio.   I immediately though, Oh no.  Are the kids at the current UA orientation as old as Nevermind ?

Smells Like Teen Spirit was released in late 1991 (September 10, 1991 to be exact).  Nevermind was released 2 weeks later (Sept 24).  There’s still a year to go until the freshpersons classes at colleges nationwide are as old as Nevermind.

Nevertheless, the kids that are about to be seniors in high school are the same age.  I thought that was a scary thought, and then I realized that some of the incoming college students are now old enough to be the children of people that I graduated high school with.  Whew.

FYI, Some of the more entertaining hits of 1990 (Billboard Top 100):

1. Hold On, Wilson Phillips
3. Nothing Compares 2 U, Sinead O’Connor
4. Poison, Bell Biv Devoe
9. Cradle Of Love, Billy Idol
11. Do Me!, Bell Biv Devoe
13. Pump Up The Jam, Technotronic
18. Black Velvet, Alannah Myles
23. I Remember You, Skid Row
27. The Power, Snap
34. Step By Step, New Kids On The Block
46. Ice Ice Baby, Vanilla Ice
47. Blame It On The Rain, Milli Vanilli
56. U Can’t Touch This, M.C. Hammer
63. The Humpty Dance, Digital Underground
67. Enjoy The Silence, Depeche Mode
68. Love Song, Tesla
71. King Of Wishful Thinking, Go West
75. Epic, Faith No More
78. Love Shack, B-52’s
89. Make You Sweat, Keith Sweat
94. Just A Friend, Biz Markie
97. Swing The Mood, Jive Bunny and The Mastermixers

How many of the new college students were conceived to Milli Vanilli, NKOTB, or Bell Biv Devoe?
